The definition of contemporary interior design offers to mean a subtle assortment of textures, colours and shapes while using bold lines in contours and furniture simultaneously. While it is shown that the minimalist exterior is attractive, there is more to renovating than that. This blog will list how to give a contemporary look, whether it is your home or business premises.

#1 Show vibrancy of colour

With neutral colours like black and white being the current style, consumers frequently wish to make this the uniform colour theme for the interior décor. While this is inaccurate, the proper palette would consist of a mixture of bright, energetic colours that enhance the neutral tones.

Changing the colour scheme of each architectural point of view in the room until you get the desired theme is an example of this.

#2 The use of lines and empty space

It’s very important to not leave a room too crowded with furniture, as this ruins the aesthetic. What can be opted for is a mixture of contours in furniture, windows and beams, that work well together with items like brick walls and painted pipes.

For contemporary interiors, the empty space is just as essential to deliver attraction and comfort, so ensure there is a balance in clutter.

Widac Commercial Interiors, a Sri Lankan interior design company that has been in the national league in this industry, adheres to the mantra of achieving the best interior solution possible for the customer. They believe in leveraging their skills to create an interior space that the client will desire, while also staying current with the latest trend.

#3 Furniture should be simple, bold and structural

Contemporary furniture should be chosen with very few changes or ordainments, like floral prints or ruffles. Colours should be neutral, but slight contrasting indications are allowed in the form of coloured pillows, as an example.

Natural materials, like wool, cotton, linen, silk and jute, give more design options.

#4 Go for renovated flooring

Current options for flooring include wood, tile and vinyl. Carpet flooring is also recommended to be done by professionals or can be compromised with singular rugs.

#5 Choose lighting and art that reveals the aesthetic

During mid-construction, it is better to use cove lighting to serve its purpose, while track and recessed lighting will suit the end result. You can upgrade the light fixtures with colour and metallic elements as well.

Art pieces can be grouped and placed on pedestals, with frames that come from a choice of wood, matte and metal finishes in neutral colours. It is better to keep in mind that artwork shouldn’t be excessive as well, but can be accented with spotlights.

#6 Use general contemporary elements

The general features that have a great impact on the interior décor are the small details.

Interior designers in Sri Lanka have now branched out their scope by reaching suppliers who can provide aesthetics like vintage mirrors and exotic plants. They aim for metal, opaque and clear glass mirrors and, sometimes, the stone kind, as of current design tags.

Plants are preferred to have the makings of blooming leaves, and further additions like bark and stone-filled soil.

You can even improvise, as a general rule, with two-toned colours as the palette choice for an interior space. These are normally striped pillows and rugs set alongside structured furniture placements.
